The Refloat Package, by @riddimrider, is a refactoring of the original Float Package, designed in such a way as to facilitate a more effective development process for others to collaborate and contribute. Learn more here: Refloat - A new VESC Package
As such, we have decided to end development of the Float Package, with future developments being exclusive to Refloat. Luckily, if you currently use the Float Package, the upgrade process is fairly straight forward, being mostly identical to the process for updating the Float Package itself. If you would like to update from Float to Refloat, here are the steps:
Connect to your board, and wait for the Float CFG tab to appear in the list of tabs at the top before proceeding
Go to Start tab, and BACKUP CONFIGS
In the same tab, open the Package Store, and tap Update Archive. Once that completes, install Refloat.
Refloat will take some time to install. Once it does, eventually the Refloat CFG tab will appear in the list of tabs at the top. If it never does, you may need to restart the app.
Once the Refloat CFG tab is available, go to the Start tab, and RESTORE CONFIGS. Make sure it says that the Restore was successful.
Finally, to allow Refloat to make the final needed adjustments to your config, you can either go to Refloat CFG and tap Write, or simply reboot your board, and you will be good to go!
Both Float pkg and ReFloat pkg should work fine on both 6.02 and 6.05 correct?
Although I hear setting up and tuning a motor cfg is good due on new firmware to some small problems with restored XML that were created on another firmware. Basically newer firmware detects better numbers to use with said firmware when it comes to certain motor values.
From what I understand is in theory any board be it Thor, Focer, ADV/GTV etc can run any mix of 6.02 and 6.05, float and refloat. However setting up from scratch on the new firmware is a better idea than restored XML.
Also of note is Float pkg isn’t being maintained with the latest 6.05 offerings.
Always look for up to date info.
All correct. The only caveat is that the current implementation of Haptic Buzz being worked on for Refloat wont work properly in 6.02 since it uses a 6.05 function
