XRV kit - charger stays green and wont charge

Hi guys, Ive just installed an XRVkit into my stock XR. However the battery level shows the battery is at 5%. When I plug my charger in the light stays green and it wont charge the battery. Ive checked the battery with a mulimeter and its 49V. Ive unplugged the BMS (IN the correct order) and plugged it back in again but still no luck, the battery wont charge and Ive double checked all of the connections on the controller side of the board again to and from the XRV board.

From the FB group posted by FixMyPEV below:

Per Tony:

Dear riders,

I have to apologize to you that we have made a programing mistake for the XRV BMS, the developing firmware was loaded and it will cause the kit to not take a charge, due to the difficulty of updating the firmware for bms, we have manufactured a new BMS for you with the correct version of firmware and it’s on the way shipped to you now, tracking number:

Global Order Tracking

If you have not assemble the kit please hold off untill you get the new bms, if you have installed the BMS and found it not charging, please disconnect the XT60 cable in the front box, just to prevent the battery from being drained and wait for the new BMS, again we are deeply sorry for the trouble we have caused!

Thanks, yeh I saw that on the FB group. Typical of my luck. I waited 6 weeks for this as the first one was list by the courier.

I paid $59USD for Tony to send a replacement via UPS so it wouldn’t get lost again. Now this.

(((edit well I spoke too soon. I left mine plugged in and after about 15 minutes of it being green, it is now red and is charging. The question could still be pertinent to OP though and for future use if flashing that updated firmware to fix the duty cycle beeping at 70% would fix the issue of it not charging if anyone knows)))

this sucks. Mine has been working flawlessly since I got it on the 2nd of this month and just today i plugged mine in and am getting the green light. Is this something I can flash using the st-link device flasher? I bought one to maybe look into flashing a new firmware that puts the duty cycle beeping up to 90%. Does anyone know if that firmware is the same type Tony is referring to?

For some reason it wouldn’t let me edit my previous post again but just in case this helps anyone I’m gonna post it. This scenario happened to me again which marks the 3rd time now and it will not go back to red and start charging and I have left it on for about an hour and a half now so it looks like mine got the bad firmware too after all. Waiting for Tony to reply back but might take this opportunity to go ahead and start doing a battery with longer range and more torque which will require a different BMS anyways. Any update on your original issue OP?

Yes I received my replacement BMS last night from Tony. Fitted it and my OW now charges up without issues.

Good to hear.
I’m kicking myself for not just sending him an email the first time it happened lol. How long did it take to get the replacement?

You should have recieved the email that he sent out to everyone who received a faulty BMS. And from what I heard he automatically sent out replacements to everyone.

With mine I had emailed him before he sent out the email.

He posted mine Monday 13th and I received it Wednesday 22nd. So 9 days. But I’m in Australia.
