PSA: VESC Firmware v6.06, regarding Offset Calibration

For anyone updating to 6.06 sooner than later, note that the Calibration on Boot parameter was replaced with a new Calibration Modes parameter, which has Calibration on Boot on by default even when you restore your configs. After restoring, be sure to go to Motor CFG → FOC → Offsets, disable Calibration on Boot, and Write if you want a quicker boot-up.

There are also some setups that don’t calibrate well on boot, so after doing this, it can be a good idea to disable Float/Refloat, go to Motor CFG, tap “…” in bottom right, and run Measure FOC Offsets. After doing so, you can re-enable the Float/Refloat package.

Note: If you’re not sure whether to update to 6.06 yet or not, no rush, I would hold off and not worry about it for now if you’re not exactly sure what I’m talking about. This is just for those who are comfortable with it and already updating to the new 6.06 firmware.
