Magic Flywheel Mode not working

It seems like it doesn’t attempt to balance fast enough. My board just falls over and accelerates wheel as its falling. The board rides perfectly fine though. I’ve seen 2 other people say they had this issue, but I cannot find any other information.

Magic Flywheel mode is finicky. I would suggest placing your board on something that has more friction and can help balance the board better first (I used a rug in my garage). Then hold the board so it’s almost balanced before engaging flywheel mode (to engage flywheel mode without the app, you can press the left sensor, right, left and right to engage it.). The key to getting flywheel to work is making sure the board is as balanced as possible before engaging, otherwise it’ll result in what you described. Good luck

Thanks for the reply, I tried it in grass and on carpet. I am holding it so its balanced as i start, the wheel just spins and it falls over still.

I seem to have the same issue after an XRV Kit install. Board seems to be working fine except I did a ‘flywheel’ test and it doesn’t balance.

My wheel starts to balance momentarily then the wheel spin speeds up abruptly in one direction and increases to super fast and the balancing fails in about 1 second.

Have you been able to get yours working?

Unfortunately not. I’m brand new to VESC so I don’t even know where to start for troubleshooting. I’ve read something about re-calibrating IMU but I haven’t been up to the task.

I’m new as well. I’m going to seek out help to get it right. My board is functioning fine as far as riding, but some setting is just not perfect for Flywheel not to work.

Ohhh, that’s the “konami code”. And it worked. Man I love this thing.

Same here. Got a gtv and xrv installed that flywheel just fine. But my pintv fails. Almost like some update frequency is too low. I did hall sensor calibrate etc. Imu real time data seems correct. Board rides great but no flywheel. To be continued…

I got my Flywheel working with some help!

Nice! What did you do to get it working?

I basically did my setup again with guidance from an expert.
I followed all the instructions when I set it up myself, but apparently there were some settings that needed tweaking.

The expert (Justin Velasquez) inspected my Motor, App and Float cfg files and sent them back with some modifications for me to upload.

After I uploaded the files, created backups etc., the Flywheel mode worked!
