LED Lights for Little FOCer v4 VESC based Onewheel

I’ve been searching, but havent found much information, let alone a guide to follow. I do most of my riding at night, but after converting my XR over to VESC, I’m not able to use the exisitng LEDs…at least that is what I believe. Anyone have a guide or willing to provide a plan? I’ve been stalking the AVASpark’s site at the recommendation of Indy Speed Control, but do not know what I should purchase.

I have a Little FOCer v4, and an 84v pack. I would love some RGBW lights, but night time visibility (for me and “them”) is my priority. The rear box is the factory XR battery box. The front box is the standard Makers PEV 3D printed control box without a LED window. Anyone have a STL file of a remixed control box with a sealed LED window, or know where I can purchase one made with something better then PLA?

Thanks everyone.

See my comments at the bottom of LED Light Bar or other Lights Advice for how to add LEDs to a FOCer v3 or other controller that lacks sufficient power output:

Thanks for the feedback. With the Little FOCer v4, it says it can provide 5V @ 2A to accessories, do you think that will be enough? Also the V4 FOCer has a dedicated smart LED 3 pin connector. There doesnt seem to be much information out there for LED setups and the LFr v4. I guess I should just start buy some off of Amazon and see what works.

Thanks again.

It was really frustrating trying to learn how to add LEDs and I updated the post you’re replying to because apparently I can’t discern a 4 from a 3…

For a Little FOCer v4, you need some 5V SK6812 LEDs, and there are lots of options to choose from.
You can get these 5V SK6812 LED strips on Amazon.com
or these 5V LED bars from AvaSpark, among others.
Unfortunately, I haven’t any direct experience with a LFOC v4 which only has 1 LED output and have instead used controllers like the Thor300 that have multiple LED outputs. That said, my understanding is that LEDs can be wired in series. The FOCer v4 has LED, 5V and GND.

The AvaSpark LEDs have 4 pins: RGB, 5V, GND on one end and RGBOUT, 5V, GND on the other end. The controller is wired to the front LED as follows:
LED → RGB, 5V → 5V, GND → GND
The front LED is then wired to the rear LED as follows:
RGBOUT → RGB, 5V → 5V, GND → GND
You may need the AvaSpark LED data signal booster if your rear LEDs flicker (mine did).

After the wiring is in place, you need to go into VESC Tool → Refloat Config → Setup and enter the correct specifications (I’ll check this when I get home and grab some screenshots).

I know that’s not everything, but I hope it helps!
