Is my firmware incorrect, IMU not working

To start earlier this year I purchased a lil focer tron or rion I believe, from the Float Life shop when they had surplus stock of them for sale back when Nico joined them so hopefully he can chime in maybe and help. I had plans to build my first VESC XR but wanted almost a full build with many parts before I started so over course of many months accumulated parts. Torque box, zbattery meat pack, ZBMS, MTE hub, float life controller box, rails, etc. list goes on.

I finally got everything and started assembling over the course of a month or two between available time. Once complete I ran through “the board garage” VESC setup tutorial to setup on vesctool, I did this before on a diff VESC I had bought assembled and process was fairly smooth for me. However this time seemed all smooth until I got to IMU setup, seemed to work fine doing IMU wizard all steps but when I was completely done something was not right, testing on bench would go straight to full speed. IMU seemed to look ok in RT data view of it when id pick up and move around board but once set down would not tilt correctly. I went through IMU wizard a hand full more times and same result every time.

Then after research for some reason I thought well maybe I have the wrong firmware loaded since I did update firmware initially, I tried loading diff lil focer firmwares to no success. I then thought I loaded incorrect controller firmware and loaded one that bricked my capabilities to connect via bluetooth. Crap I am screwed I thought!!

Went to FB group asking for help and someone suggested I connect through type C on controller and attempt loading diff firmware, I did this and successfully got back to lil foccer firmware and capability to connect via bluetooth again! Did entire setup process again all over and now my IMU will not sense at all, I have tried countless firmwares and setups and will not even detect my IMU anymore.

Any ideas what this could be? Anyone on here know and can tell me which controller I have? It looks like a lil focer 3.1 but doesn’t say that anywhere on it, just says in big bold white across the bottom of capacitors “TRION”. Not sure if maybe its because I am putting wrong firmware or I screwed it, in RT data IMU never changes anymore as if it no longer has one.

TYIA for any help!

I am in Sacramento, CA, on the verge of going down to Float shop and asking Nico or Robert or Keaton if I could just give a couple hundred $$ to help fix for me. I have a beautiful board almost fully setup sitting on a crate in my living room! LOL

VESC tool has a built in Remote Desktop like feature for diag on issues.

This allows shops like Atlowshop to offer remote diag services.

I would start with… using a PC tcp connection to backup motor and app xml, then perhaps do app/imu setup from scratch with someone else helping you. Then If you think there is an issue upload some videos showing moving the imu in front of a screen showing the imu data output.

perhaps something simple like the motor needs reverse or imu setup wrong or fudged somehow.
However tracking a “simple” little thing down takes more time than setting up from scratch, and if the hardware quality is in question then hunting bugs is less fruitful. Scratch setup from all defaults, like new FW flash is one of the only ways to be certain if it is software or hardware.
