Potentially unpopular opinion… While the smoothness of VESC is great, I actually find the obvious ‘click’ on FM boards when the motor engages (mounting) and disengages (heel lift stopping) quite useful in certain situations. It would be helpful if there were a setting in VESC to enable clear tactile or audible feedback to indicate when the motor changes state (engages or disengages).
Vesc already has that setting based on current setting. Can’t remember exactly what it’s called but someone here will be able to help
Very interesting, thanks! I’ve looked all around and could not find anything obvious in the current settings (or anywhere else), so I’m definitely looking forward to any help on this.
REFLOAT CFG / FLOAT CFG > Startup > Startup Click Current
Yup, there it is…both self explanatory and obvious once you’ve seen it, and something I totally overlooked myself. Thank you. It would still be nice to have a setting to replicate the shutdown click on FM boards as well (I find that confirmation helpful when doing a heel lift stop on uneven ground or in tight spaces).
The startup click is played both on start and stop. Give it some testing!
I’ll give it a try. Just running around on flat ground and trying different settings, I could not notice any click when stopping, even with the max (20A) setting. May be more noticeable if the motor is under some load when stopping (i.e. not on a flat surface).
Just to clarify - What VESC package + version are you running? Refloat 1.1 is the latest, with what I mentioned.
I’m running Refloat v1.0.1
I believe the disengage click is new to Refloat v1.1
I believe you are right! Thank you, just updated and the disengage click is working.
