Custom battery/future motion reverse polarity help

So… Heres my question, I built an 18s 2p battery for my ultra pint that I’m building and I have a fear that I may have messed something up because of the future motion reverse polarity trap. Does anyone know if I have installed the pint v power kit but didn’t switch the wires out if that trap still exists? I read somewhere recently that it exists inside the battery cable harness.

I am on the brink of completion and have successfully mounted a pint tire on a superflux high-speed motor and successfully mounted onto pint WTF rails using some custom axle blocks i found somewhere, i just have the final assembly and calibration but am scared to proceed.

PLEASE HELP

I don’t remember the exact spots where the polarity is reversed, but the battery XT60 is definitely one of them. No need to trust others though, you should be using a multimeter to test the polarity of any XT60’s before plugging them in. If any are reversed from each other, you either need to resolder one of them reversed, or make/use an adapter to flip the polarity

I appreciate your reply! I can say that I didn’t use it yet on the XT60 just past the controller cable gland and will do so now. I will admit… I should’ve realized this far sooner. I am very new to all this and learning a lot and just stoked to be a part of this community… Thank you… I know we arent supposed to criticize but I honestly welcome it and if anyone has any input as far as an area to focus on knowledge-wise that may easily be overlooked, please let me know!

It’s good that you’re asking questions before getting too deep into things. As Nico mentioned, you should definitely be using a multimeter to test things. Winging it or using a ‘guess and check’ type method can be extremely dangerous when working with batteries or electronics in general.

I definitely used my multimeter throughout the battery build process, however, upon completion and after verification of the battery build being a success I can say I definitely experienced a burst of overconfidence and stopped using it as frequently as I should and began to solder xt60’s on, without checking a couple afterwards with my multimeter, which fits the ‘guess and check’ method you speak of. I am actually startled now due to watching videos on battery accidents and… Damn… I couldve easily shorted a connector and possibly wouldn’t be typing this right now… Please, if you read this and are new to this aspect of building your own VESC ride like I am, please listen to these seasoned veterans and not that little grandiose voice in your head… It could save your house or more…
