Presented is the list of Lithium Ion cells that are commonly used in custom onewheel battery packs.
The batteries will be presented with the following information:
Capacity: Measured in mAh
Max Charge: Measured in Amps
Max Output: Measured in Amps
Size: Either 18650 or 21700
Pricing is done per cell.
Samsung 50S ($8.99)
Capacity: 5000mAh
Max Charge: 3A
Max Output: 25A (Per cell)
Size: 21700
The Samsung 50S cell is used the most for long-range builds, as the cell holds a balance between a good output amperage and excellent capacity. Most people may expect exceedingly good range if built into an 18s2p configuration, with enough performance to get through light trail riding and group rides.
Used in the ME4T Pack.
Molicel P45B ($9.99)
Capacity: 4500mAh
Max Charge: 2.5A
Max Output: 45A (Per cell)
Size: 21700
A favorite among racers and trail riders. The P45B sacrifices some capacity for exceptional power output. An 18S2P configuration using the P45B should produce a board with lots of torque and power, with enough range to get you through most trails. Commonly referred to as the Power Pack in the VESC community.
Molicel P28A ($6.99)
Capacity: 2800mAh
Max Charge: 3A
Max Output: 35A (Per cell)
Size: 18650
Considered as a reliable and affordable option, the P28A is used in Jeff at the Float Life. While the capacity leaves much to be desired, it’s output and small size allows it to be used in a higher series configuration to allow for higher voltages, and higher speeds at an affordable cost.
Molicel P50B ($9.99)
Capacity: 5000mAh
Max Charge: 4A
Max Output: 60A (Per cell)
Size: 21700
The Holy Grail of current cell options used within the community. High capacity and a large amount of output, a 1P configuration is easily twice the rated output of a stock XR pack, and 10A over a ME4T pack. Used for high voltage (usually 126V) boards and riders looking to go insanely fast.
